Gallery National Art Paintings and Sculpture
“Fine Art” is considered to include paintings, sculpture, dance, theatre, architecture and printmaking. Some imply it is only an association with classic or academic art (painting and sculpture produced under the influence of European academies or universities). The term “Fine Art” comes from the concept of final cause (or purpose, or end), introduced by the famous Greek philosopher Aristotle.

The history of painting reaches back in time to artifacts from pre-historic humans, and is an ongoing river of creativity, that continues into the 21st century. In it’s early stages, it relied primarily on representations, religious and classical motifs, and abstract and conceptual pieces. Then in the 20th century, artists like Picasso, Matisse, Vincent van Gogh, Paul Gauguin and Modigliani became very popular utilizing the faculties of imagination, emotion, and mystical and religious experiences.
